The picks and shovels

The companies that supply the power, metals, chips, and automation every robot and AI data center needs. The pure-play robotmakers have lagged for years; the enablers underneath them are where the returns have been.

Robotics Infrastructure is backtested over a 24-month window ending June 2026; AI Top 10 and Reddit's Favorites end April 2026. Each column is measured against its own benchmark over its own window. Backtested and hypothetical, gross of trading costs, fees, and taxes, which would reduce returns. Past performance is not indicative of future results. Benchmarks (S&P 500, Russell 2000) are unmanaged and cannot be invested in directly. See full methodology ↓

What each portfolio actually does.

AI Top 10

Holds the 10 stocks AltIndex's model rates highest at each rebalance. The AI Score blends four signals that tend to move before earnings do: audience growth, hiring, customer traction, and fundamentals. In short, the companies firing on all cylinders at once.

  • Ranks the whole US large and mid cap universe by AI Score, holds the top 10.
  • Equal weight, 10% each. Held until the score breaks down, not on a fixed calendar.
  • Sells when a name's score falls below the buy line or drops out of the top tier.

vs S&P, 24mo

In the backtest it more than doubled the S&P's 12-month return. It also fell about 14% in early 2025 alongside the broad market, then recovered within a few months. Backtested figures only; not a forecast.

Reddit's Favorites

Catches small and mid cap names as they break through Reddit's noise floor, but only the ones with a real business underneath. The quality gates are what separate this from a meme basket.

  • Tracks mention volume, growth, and sentiment across the major investing subreddits.
  • Hard filters: AI Score of at least 65, growing revenue, and positive free cash flow.
  • Market cap between $1B and $100B, so no microcaps and no mega-cap noise.

In the backtest this was the strongest risk-adjusted performer: highest return, smallest drawdown, best win rate. The quality gates would have screened out names like GME and AMC. The gates were designed recently and applied to historical data, so treat this as illustrative, not realized.

Robotics Infrastructure

Holds the companies that supply the power, metals, chips, and automation every robot and AI data center consumes — regardless of which robotmaker wins. The pure-play robot stocks have been poor investments for years; this owns the enablers underneath them.

  • Ranks by the AltIndex AI Score across a robotics-enabler universe: power and electrical, metals, semiconductors, and industrial automation.
  • Sleeve caps force breadth — no more than four semiconductors — so it stays infrastructure, not a chip basket.
  • Quality floor: AI Score of at least 55, which is exactly why it beat the passive robotics ETFs — it drops the weak marquee robot names.

The most aggressive of the three. Cyclical semiconductors and metals mean big swings: a 15.8% down month and a 22% peak-to-trough drawdown in the backtest, then a +30.8% rebound the very next month. Turnover is high. Built for upside, not a smooth ride.

From alternative data to your brokerage.

AltIndex scores the market

Every day, our models read social, hiring, web traffic, app, and fundamental data on thousands of companies and turn it into one signal per strategy.

Each portfolio picks its 10

The model ranks the universe by its own signal, applies its quality gates, and rebalances monthly. No guesswork and no hot takes, just the published rules.

You follow on

Choose to follow a portfolio on Autopilot, an independent app, and the positions copy into your own brokerage. When the model rebalances, your account can follow along. You stay in control of your account.

Important disclosures

Not investment advice. AltIndex is a research and analytics publisher operated by Invested Inc. It is not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer, and nothing on this page is personalized investment advice or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. The model portfolios are impersonal, general information, the same for every visitor, and are not tailored to your financial situation, objectives, or risk tolerance.

Backtested, hypothetical results. The returns shown are from a backtest, not a live track record and not the results of any real account. On the first of each month over the past 24 months we selected the top names by each strategy's signal using historical AltIndex data, then measured the following month. Backtested performance is hypothetical, calculated with the benefit of hindsight, and may be affected by hindsight optimization, survivorship bias, and look-ahead bias. No representation is made that any account will or is likely to achieve results similar to those shown. Past performance is not indicative of future results.

Costs and taxes. Figures are gross and do not include trading costs, bid-ask spread, slippage, fees, or taxes, which would reduce real returns by an estimated one to two percent per year. Every monthly rebalance creates buy and sell events; in a taxable account that can trigger capital gains taxes. Tax-advantaged accounts such as IRAs avoid that friction.

Method notes. The Reddit's Favorites quality gates were designed in 2026 and applied to historical data to show how the current strategy would have behaved; the gates were not in place during the historical period. Twenty-four months is a limited sample covering one major drawdown and one strong rally, and has not been tested through a full bear market or recession. All three strategies are long only, hold US-listed equities, and use no shorting, options, leverage, or crypto.

Affiliate relationship and conflict of interest. The portfolios are offered through Autopilot (joinautopilot.com), operated by Autopilot Advisers, LLC, a separate, SEC-registered company that AltIndex is not affiliated with and does not control. The “Copy on Autopilot” links are paid referral links, and Invested Inc may earn a commission when you sign up or copy a portfolio through them. This is a financial incentive and a conflict of interest. It does not change the price you pay. AltIndex does not manage your account or execute trades.

Risk. Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. You should only invest money you can afford to lose. Consider your own circumstances and consult a licensed financial, legal, or tax professional before investing.
