AMC's website logged 73 million visits in June, an all-time high in our data, more than double the traffic of a year earlier, and the fourth consecutive month of growth. The surge tracks the strongest summer box office since the pandemic, and it lands two months before AMC's next earnings report.
Every month, we track estimated website visits for AMC (AMC), and for two years the pattern was predictable: traffic bounced between 25 and 40 million monthly visits, rising with big releases and fading in the quiet months. That pattern just broke. June 2026 came in at 73 million visits, more than double the 35 million from June 2025 and roughly 40% above the previous record of 52 million set in December 2025.
The ramp has been steady, not spiky: 33 million in February, 41 million in March, 46 million in April, 65 million in May, 73 million in June. For a cinema chain, people loading amctheatres.com to check showtimes and buy tickets is about as direct a demand signal as alternative data gets.

The box office. The 2026 summer season took in about $1.8 billion domestically through late June, within roughly 2% of the same point in 2019, and industry trackers now expect the full year to cross $10 billion for the first time since the pandemic. Toy Story 5 opened to a franchise-record $160 million in mid-June, the biggest opening of the year, and it landed on top of a stack of holdovers still selling tickets rather than in an empty marketplace.
The timing in our data matches the release calendar. Traffic began climbing in March as spring titles held, jumped in May when the summer slate opened, and peaked in June around the Toy Story 5 launch. The second half of the slate is arguably stronger: July and August bring a new Minions film, a Moana release, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, and a Spider-Man entry. If June's record reflected one big opening, the next two months will test whether demand holds when the tentpoles keep coming weekly.
Web traffic is a leading indicator here, with a short and mechanical path to revenue: visits convert to tickets, tickets convert to admissions and concession sales, and both land in the Q2 and Q3 numbers AMC reports starting in early August. AMC lost $117 million in Q1 on $1.05 billion in revenue, a quarter when traffic averaged 38 million visits. Q2 traffic averaged 61 million, roughly 60% higher. Traffic is not a one-to-one proxy for revenue, but a demand shift of that size does not stay invisible on an income statement.
The stock has not priced much of this in. Shares trade near $1.87, down more than 40% from last summer, against a market cap of about $1.7 billion. If the traffic record converts into the quarter the demand data implies, the market is currently paying for a much emptier theater than the one the data shows. The number to watch is July's traffic print: with the heaviest release stretch of the summer, it will show whether June was the peak or the middle of the ramp.
Worth noting
The traffic record is corroborated by our other consumer signals: app downloads topped 100,000 in both May and June, up from a 39,000 to 76,000 winter range, and Google search interest hit a five-month high in May. On May 19, CEO Adam Aron bought 250,000 shares on the open market at $1.38, the first open-market insider purchase at AMC since 2023.
The counterweight: AMC's AI Score sits at 54, a hold, because the fundamentals lag the demand data. Q1 was the fifth consecutive quarterly loss, job postings are down about 25% month over month, the short ratio is above 28, and AMC has a history of diluting shareholders through weaker summers than this one.
Attendance is the one variable AMC cannot manufacture, and it is inflecting harder than at any point in our dataset. The August earnings report will show whether 73 million visits became revenue. Until then, the monthly traffic number might be the cleanest read on this stock right now.
