5 Times Trump Moved a Stock With a Single Post

Trump routinely names specific public companies in his Truth Social posts, touting deals, investments, and endorsements. Often the named stock jumps the next day. Here are five times a single mention moved the shares.

Donald Trump uses Truth Social to break news. He announces trade agreements, manufacturing pledges, tariff wins, and even government stakes there first, and he does it by name: Intel, Apple, Nvidia, Boeing, Toyota. When a post carries a real catalyst, the company he tags tends to move, sometimes in the same session. Below are five clear cases, ranked by how far the stock climbed the next trading day.

Intel jumped 10.8%, and then tripled

The Intel post is the cleanest of the five, because Trump timed it right after the close and put real news in it. The United States government took a 10% stake in Intel in 2025, so the President treats the company as a national project and posts about it often. This time he paired a meeting with CEO Lip-Bu Tan with a concrete product claim, the first American-made sub-2nm chip. For a lot of retail traders, the Truth Social post was where they first saw it. Intel opened the next session sharply higher and closed up 10.8%, from $41.11 to $45.55.

Trump's January 8 post on Truth Social, where he touted Intel's US-built sub-2nm chip.

That was the small part. Intel ran from roughly $41 on the day of the post to a peak near $130 by early summer before settling back around $102. Anyone who saw the post and acted is up about 149% today. Not every catalyst compounds like that, but this one did.

Toyota moved 3.5% on three words: "Toyota to Texas"

On July 28, 2026, Trump shared an op-ed headlined "Toyota to Texas" and framed the automaker's US expansion as his tariffs doing their job. Toyota (TM) closed up 3.5% the next session. The post named no dollar figure and announced no deal on its own, it amplified a reshoring story the market was primed to reward. That is the pattern with autos and tariffs: when Trump ties a foreign manufacturer to American jobs, the stock tends to catch a bid. This one is only a week old, so the next-day pop is the whole story for now.

Apple added 3.2% on a $100 billion pledge

August 6, 2025, after the close, Trump posted a Bloomberg story reporting that he and Apple would announce $100 billion in fresh US manufacturing. Apple (AAPL) rose 3.2% the next day, from $212 to $219. The dollar figure is what made it move. A vague "great company" post does nothing for a $4 trillion stock, but a specific, checkable number gives traders something to price.

Apple kept climbing after the post, and now trades near $309, up about 45% from the day Trump hit publish.

Nvidia rose 2.6% when its CEO thanked Trump

The Nvidia entry is the odd one out. There was no deal and no dollar figure, just an endorsement. On May 1, 2025, Trump shared CEO Jensen Huang saying the company would build its next generation of technology in the United States and crediting the President directly. Nvidia (NVDA) closed up 2.6% the next trading day. It is worth including precisely because it is soft, it shows the market will move on a Trump post even when the "news" is a compliment, as long as the name attached is the most important stock in the AI trade.

Since that post, Nvidia has nearly doubled, up 99%, and become the first company to cross a $5 trillion market cap.

Boeing gained 2.4% on an Indonesian plane order

On July 22, 2025, Trump announced a trade agreement with Indonesia that included large-scale purchases of Boeing aircraft. Boeing (BA) closed up 2.4% the next session. Boeing shows up whenever Trump brokers a foreign deal, because jet orders are one of the few things a President can point to that translate directly into a company's backlog. The long tail here is modest, Boeing has drifted up about 5% since, a reminder that not every Trump pop turns into a trend.

The overnight pop was the small part

For three of these names, the next-day move was a rounding error against what came next. Indexed to 100 on the day of Trump's post, Intel is at 249, Nvidia at 199, and Apple at 145. The post was not the reason these stocks tripled or doubled, but it was an early, public, timestamped marker that Trump had put the company on his list, and each one went on to a major run.

The bottom line

The president's Truth Social feed has become a market-moving newswire, one that publishes on his schedule instead of the market's and names companies most wire services would never single out. That is not slowing down. The scramble to buy his posts by the millisecond only proves how much a few seconds of lead time is now worth.

You cannot out-trade a hedge fund's data feed on speed. What you can do is stay on top of every market-moving post and use it as a signal in your own strategy, the moment it lands. That is what our Trump Stock alerts are built for.
